Roadmap · Canton Network · Running on DevNet

What works today, what we are building, and what we want to open up.

ETP Foundry is a toolkit for creating and running tokenized funds on Canton. We calculate and propose; the fund’s own parties sign. This page says plainly where each piece stands.

Where we are

Working today, and building now.

Working today
Two test funds on Canton DevNet
Funds holding real DevNet cBTC, cETH and Canton Coin, created and redeemed in kind in one transaction each, on our own validator. DevNet assets have no money value.
Working today
Daily value proposed, checkers ready
The engine proposes each fund’s daily value (NAV) from Chainlink prices, and each seat has checker software to sign or refuse it. No outside party holds a seat yet, so nothing has been signed by a third party.
In development
Fund shares as a standard token
Shares as a standard Canton token (CIP-56), so wallets and venues can see them, transfer them and settle them against payment. Not finished, not deployed.
In development
Creation and redemption in cash
Creating and redeeming shares for a standard Canton cash token (USDCx is the intended one), as well as in kind. Not finished, not deployed.
Proposed

Open standards for Canton.

Two pieces of this work are useful to everyone on Canton, not only to us. We want to build them in the open, under the Canton Development Fund’s published requests for proposals.

Public verifiability RFP 11

The problem: Canton keeps transactions private, so today a fund’s value and backing are only the fund’s own word.

  • Ledger templates for the custodian, the token issuer and the administrator to confirm holdings, reserves and the daily value, each with its own key
  • A checker kit each of those parties runs on its own systems
  • A signed public summary of the fund’s numbers, with no individual transactions disclosed
  • A reader any Canton app can use to see who signed

Who it helps: lenders, venues, wallets and token issuers that need numbers they can rely on.

Real-world asset standards RFP 12

The problem: there is no standard way to create, redeem, pledge and service a fund share on Canton, so every app would build its own.

  • A standard profile for fund shares as Canton tokens
  • Creation and redemption, in cash or in kind, in one transaction
  • Pledging fund shares as collateral: valuation, margin, release, and what happens on default
  • Servicing: daily value, corrections, pauses, basket changes and compliance actions, for any issuer

Who it helps: fund sponsors, holders, lenders and repo desks, and the wallets and venues that serve them.

Status: Proposals in preparation for the Canton Development Fund. Not yet submitted. We are looking for a Champion.

Why it matters

Fund shares you can use as collateral, at any hour.

A fund sponsor adds a Canton share class to a fund it already runs. The fund’s assets can stay with its custodian; only the shares and the cash move on Canton. Institutions that hold the shares can then pledge them, lend them or use them in repo with any Canton counterparty, settled instantly, 24/7, against a value the fund’s own parties have signed. It works for crypto baskets, treasuries and money-market funds alike.
